Korea started participating in The 5th Winter Olympics in 1948. Korea has had 17 Olympic Winter Games, including the most recent one in 2010. The medal tally began with, 4 medals(2 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze) in 1992 Vancouver Winter Olympics, and with (6 Gold, 6 Silver, 2 Bronze)in the most recent Winter Olympics in 2010.


Emerging Korean star athletes began with the Gold-medalist, Kim Gi hoon(short track 1000m) in 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics, Silver medalist, Kim Yoon man(speed skating 1000m), and the most recently, figure skater Kim Yunah won the Gold medal in 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Korea is coming up as a strong contender in Olympic Winter Games.
